Once upon a time there was a monthly event that hypnotized and stole almost all attention from a great number of webmasters. It was called the Google dance. Today it doesn’t exist anymore. Since a couple of months back Google updates it’s index almost every day. Depending on the size and update frequency of your site, it will get spidered by Google daily or at least weekly. Search engin result pages change all the time. At least for the very popular search terms that many sites want to get in top for. The dance is on forever, and thus no longer news. In fact, this might be the only dancing activities Google is involved in right now.
However. About once a month Google reshuffles page rank and backlinks (the number of external links your site has from high ranking sites), things that are also taken into account when Google desides where to place ”your” sites result in the result listings. It’s not as exciting, but bears almost as big an importance for hard working search engine optimizing webmasters.
Google has just finished the monthly update of it’s indexes (also known as the Google Dance). This time I’m among the happy crowd that like the new index. N!kkes Index has gained position for several search terms. But a week ago I was less happy. Everytime the Google Dance starts, the new pages from this site vanishes from the current index, except for some index listings. The pages from my old site are still there, but I think that is because they haven’t changed in ages and have more static links pointing to them.
