iScams - scams on the internet
The web is allways full of gullable people, just like you and I. And there are lots of scammers ready to try to cheat us on our money.
I don’t get enough lottery scam mails these days. So few that I almost like it when I get mail from people like the alias Dan Singh, who tries to get me to believe that I have won ”Eight Hundred And Fifty Thousand Pounds Sterling ” (not my capitalization). Furthermore Dan Sing sends his mail from a free Canadian e-mail service but wants my reply to a UK free e-mail service. One could expect that someone handling a million dollars would have access to a mail domain of his own…
Ahmed Al Asiri seems to be living in the past. A past, when 419ers where roaming the internet with their wonderful confidental letters bearing wonderful news about inheritances tat where to be collected and hidden funds that need a proxy for a bank transfer.
It’s been quite some time since I last found any of these in my mail, but my new-found 0inbox policy reveals them in a new way, and since the iScam section of this site needs a new contribution, I thought Ahmed’s mail about trying to scam the National Bank of Abu Dhabi for 12 million US dollars that ”the late Mr. Thomas Stone” deposited there before he died.
The US Federal Trade Commission, FTC, recently reported that they have cracked down on the Google Money Tree pyramid scam as a part of Operation Shortchange. Great news!
Summer and winter are the haydays for various scammers. Here’s a fresh one. ”Governor James Ibori” wants a partner, but doesn’t seem to even know my e-mail address (since the mail is sent to a non-disclosed email list). Just another scam, and of course worthy of a mention here at Nikke’s Index…
You have to give this Nigerian scammer some respect for being so brief in his pitch. However, I don’t think he will get that many replies, wich of course is a good thing in itself! I kind of like his method of sending from an msn mail address and taking replies from Yahoo! mail too. […]
The Windsor Star has an interesting article about a 419 scam. John Rempel, Leamington John Rempel from Leamington has fallen hard for one of these scams and I quite admire his courage for coming out publicly to talk about how he was scammed. And I do feel with him. We need some examples like this so that people actually understand that some of these scams are actually carried through.
Ekene Chukwu seems to be really new as a 419 scammer, since he makes some of the classic mistakes. First of all he has his own email address as the recipient of the mail. Secondly, the mail has those small mistakes that a real solicitor just wouldn’t make, such as the left out blank after […]
