2006-12-28 - Since this summer, there has been reports about various SMS lottery scams, that are said to be originated in Sweden. Personally, I don't really think they are. Even though they state an address for a Swedish Post Office Box in Gothenburg. Mark the spelling (not Gotenborg) as it is spelled in the sting mail. There might be a P O box there, but I vage that all incoming mail is resent somewhere else.

04/06 2004 - Imagine receiving a mail saying you just won four million Euros... I just did. Only, I didn't buy a ticket, and the lottery itself is just as non-existant as my ticket. I don't quite realize how the iScammers behind this thought they would be able to capitalize from this, but it might be anything from receiving confirmation that this is a spammable adress belonging to a gullable person, to receivi

03/23 2004 - Sometimes I wonder if Nigerian 419 scammers might think that a spellchecker would hurt their business case. At least Mrs Mariam Abacha, the latest in my alleged "friends" from Nigeria, is one who really could need one. The poor widow actually has more typos in her mail than I have after a long night of trying out drink recipes! (See Drinkalizer.com for those...)
I have helped her out a little

03/22 2004 - This is a 419 scam mail with quite a new approach. The sender claims to be a Barrister and solicitor, which probably serves two purposes. First to give the appearance of legitimity, but probably also to make sites like this one to think twice before publishing it on the web. However, even if the background story is somewhat new, the mail has every bang of a classic 419 iscam mail. The misspelled t

01/24 2004 - The alleged Savimbi relatives just won't give up, will they? I can't help but wonder how many sons there might be.
Their story is repeated over and over again, with nothing stopping them, and I keep publish the new ones (that is, tha ones that aren't caught by my spam filter). Even if they are somewhat amusing, they won't get you anywhere but into trouble would you try replying to them.

01/17 2004 - It's been quite a while since I last received a 419 mail. Or at least got one that wasn't swallowed by my spam filter. But today I got one to a quite new address of mine. What bugs me the most is that this address was published in a format that I thought safe against email harvester.
Still. It's always nice to have the opportunity to expose one of these scammers. If you received a mail like t

09/10 2003 - This morning I had two 419 mails with the exact same subject in my in basket. I really don't think this is a coinsidence, but I can't really figure out why they think me such a fool. This one is another next-of-kin setup, where I am invited to do something unlegal in the first place.

09/08 2003 - Sarah Adidi Guei may have started a new trend. Either it worked out, or it just seemed like a really good idea to some 419 scammer from Congo (or is it Morocco?). Anyway. This mail is set in the more traditional 419 style. (Sarah's wasn't all caps and even had paragraphs...).

08/27 2003 - Another Nigerian 419 mail scam just arrived in my mail. I think what fascinates me tho most with these scams (beside of the ridicculous sums - in this case US$ 25,000,000.00) is the fact that the scammers moste often invites us to be part of a fraud. By inviting us to be part of a fraud they would have an edge on any responder. And these guys know how to use such a psycological advantage.
