Nobody knows what went wrong when Promotion Director ”Alvaro Manuel Pablo” or agent Vincente Garcia where compilating and sending out this lottery scam spam. They only sent one mail, but they managed to repeat their message four times in the same e-mail. And it’s a lottery scam allright. It bears all the markers such as a redicilously large amount of 805,550.90 Euros (I kind of wonder how they agreed on that ammount), the warning not to go public due to the risk of a ”mix up of numbers and winning email addresses”, the need for a speedy reply, and of course the fact they they don’t even seem to know what email address they have sent the mail to…

Here goes:

    Hi Jessica,

Believe me. It just isn’t true.

Nifty, aren’t they? 1,950 and 1,200 in what currency? Tell them your are a bit short of cash but that they can deduct the handling fee from your winnings and just send you a check.

Actually, what they are doing, is several things. First they want to make you pay 3,150 dollars/pounds/euro/whatever. Secondly (if they can) they would very much like you to hand over your bank account and the right to transfer money from it as well.

    Hi Karwa,

I can of course not be definitely sure about your ticket, but the mail I received was nothing but an attempt to scam a little money out of me, and even attempt an identity theft.

Don’t respond. Just trash the mail, and forget about it. That’s my advice.

I received e-mails via a security company (which does have a website) re this so-called lottery win. (I do not recall ever purchasing a ticket but I have recently joined the Iberia Airline club).

I sent the Security firm a scanned picture of my passport (an expired one) and completed a form. The securty firm have now forwarded to me a Certificateof Award but are now asking for a ‘Municiple Task Fee’ of over a thousand euros – which converts into £712, which I am supposted to transfer to the Local Government of Madrid via Ministerio de Economia Y Hacienda – via Ministerio de Economia Y Hacienda (which does seem to exist).

    However, I am suspicious…..

Good move to send them a scan of an expired passport. Didn’t you get any reaction to that?

I got a letter from Spanish Sweepstake International Promotions Programme but it read virtually the same as the email above. I had apparently won €785,510.00. Don’t anyone be fooled by these scams. It’s got to be scam. Why do they need a security deposit, why not take it out of the winnings. don’t worry that you might be losing out on riches. They say if it seems to good to be true, then it usually is.

A letter No____________ Bearing the Headings ”EURO MILLION ESPANA S.L” was sent to me on 16th July 2007 that was recieved by me on 25th July 2007. It also inclded a Reference No, A Batch No and a Security File No. It says that I have won 410,000.00 Euros with the Ticket No…. in the third Category. It further asks me to contact with their registered Claims Agent, DEUTCH SECURITIES AGENCY whose Phone No. and Fax No. have been provided in the letter. I wonder if I can file a case of fraudulent , missguidance and playing with human feelings and psychology. Of course I deserve the right to take them to International Court of Justice for playing with innocent Human Feelings and Psychology. Can any one has further advice for taking such scammers to the Courts of Justice in this world. I shall be pleased to hear any advice or comments. Thanks.

    Hello to all!

I just received the email from Seguros Security SL. I decidet not to claim from them. Why? …. Experience. Two or three years ago, I recived almost the same email from organization that was located in Amsterdam (they were hiding by the name of Freelotto, but they didnt have anything to do with the real Freelotto.com), with the notice, that I have won 1 milion€. Of course as girl with out a job and with a lot of depts, I was wery happy for my winning.
Problems statrted when I started to claim my winnings. First I had to pay some fee (i dont know anymore why) in worth of 150€. OK, i asked my mom to loan me some money and payd it. Then they asked me to pay 940english pounds for som legal ntotification or something. I got some more loan to pay this. And after that they again wanted me to pay for something…. I told them (we contaced by mail and phone) that Im unemployed and that I already had to loan money to pay for those fees and that I would lik them to deduct this payment from my wining. No they say, that is not possible. Bla, bla, bla. Aftr my last email to them, where I writed that is no fer to say to the people that are alerady in depts to claim money for a winning. After that mail no one responded.
After big desipointment I started to search on the internet for the company and those people and find out, that they are criminals and that the winnings are a big frauds!!!
Dont fall for the same stupid thig as I had.

  • Zak C (UK)

Recieved letter 31st August 2007 WINTERTHUR SEGUROS COMPANIA S.A. ”SCAM”
: DR Antonio LOPES Tel: 0034 651 567 749 (This is a Mobile number) thought why would an official letter have a mobile number?
Phoned and spoke to Antoinio Lopez who said to faxed the form.

Faxed on their Lottery Payment Form: details to: 0034 911 011 725 (£4) but did not complete bank details just ticket payment by certified cheque.

Next day: recieved phone call from: Don Pablo Oscar
Bank Santander Madrid 0344 626 3309 Direct Number
Informed me that there was a Certified Cheque for £420,677 pounds sterling, this is tax free under international lottery rules.. hmmmm sounds convincing.
Said I wanted it paid in Euros to a spainish account.. which threw him.

Went on to say after very officially confirming my details and address.
that there was an need to ”PAY” IVA hmmmm thats local spainish taxes.
Which I know start off at 4% upto 16% sum of £975 % of what? @what rate £420,677,000

The Amount of £975 to contact the agent who would inform me of what to do next? so I have to contact the agent direct and speak with them to arrange payment.. Hmmmmm yeah me finx not..

Thats where I left it.. but made scan of the letter and emailed to a friend in Spain to look at…
today I was informed to look at this web site… lol
Firstly: as soon as any mention of payment is made.. thats the ”SCAM”

This is being passed on to police also Bank Santader.. As they are using the Bank as some form of front.

If this was official wouldn’t they require proof of ”Purchase” or some sort of Ticket.. dont forget those 2 numbers ought to be monitored :

    @Shujaat Parvez

I hope you by now have realized what this site is all about. If not. The purpose of this site is to expose the scammers that send out fake e-mail lottery mails, like the one you received. There isn’t any money to claim, since the senders are fraudsters (scammers, thieves or whatever you want to call them) who operate on the sole purpose to convince people that they should pay commissions, fees, taxes, and even bribes during the process of claiming the proceeding from lotteries that doesn’t even exist.

We got a nice looking letter in the mail from Spain, with the contents almost identical to those posted above. Ours was from ”Mr. Albert Lopez.” We are to fill out a form with to bank account name and number, including a ”photocopy of personal identity.”
We knew it was fraudulent, of course. I looked up the address given for Filter Security Agency SA on GoogleEarth-looks to be a high rise office or apartment block.
I suggest that people who receive a letter, take it to the post office for fowarding to the to the office of the inspector general.
Please be smart and not send these people any money.

I have had a letter today that includes all the details I have read above. The only thing that really differs is the names. I was told to contact Mr Manuel Lucas who is the Foreign Operations Manager. We have contacted the National Lottery who informed us that this is a scan and loads of people have been calling anout. Of course, I couldnt resist trying to call the numbers given and didnt get anything on one and on the other couldnt understand what was being said as I dont speak Spanish!!!!!

    Hi All

Received a scam letter today 26/10/07.Stating I was the lottery winner of SIX HUNDRED AND FIFTEEN THOUSAND, EIGHT HUNDRED AND TEN EUROS ONLY!
‘DUE TO MIXED UP OF NAMES AND ADDRESSES WE ASK THAT YOU KEEP THIS AWARD FROM PUBLIC NOTICE UNTIL …BLAH, BLAH, BLAH’! i Knew it would be a scam as I wouldn’t do a lottery and heard about things like this. Anyway I called THEM to get their business/company registration details so that I could see if they were legit AND report them to authorities. Well! talk about being evasive. I also informed them that since they had my home address details why didn’t they just deduct their 10% they required and post me the balance, as they believe I live at that address and don’t require any of my details so they should consider it legit. The gentleman I spoke to (who had an african accent, not spanish) informed me that it was up to me if I wanted the money or not and put the phone down. I am going to report this company to all and any one I can think off.

Hey Bridget, and every other person here!
A friend of mine also recived a letter, luckily they showed me, they were so excited, but I knew straight away it would be a scam! Think all us Brits should contact watchdog about this to warn everyone else in UK.

i also received a letter saying iv won money from the euromillions, a mistake was made on the 20th august, which was funny enough the same time that i was on holiday in puerto rico in gran canaria, so i was curious if this was of any relevance. i think that calling watchdog is a good idea. someone might fall for this scam!

    Hello there.

If you have received either an email or a letter stating you have won x amount of money in a lottery you never entered – THEN IT’S A SCAM !!

***DON’T START THINKING, BUT WHAT IF? COULD IT BE TRUE? ETC ETC – IT’S NOT***

Anyone who is stupid enough to believe it, and then send money off with your bank details, then you deserve to get ripped off.
If it’s an email – delete it. If it’s a letter – bin it.

You’ll thank me in the long run.

I got the letter in the mail. They worked hard to make it appear real – the ”stamp” is actually initialed in ink.

    very annoying.

I have received a letter from eurogrante@consultant.com mentioning that they give me an appointment in their office as a planning assistant in business administration department. I was surprised how this handsome offer comes without putting efforts and now they are asking for my passport scanned copy ofemail so that they can send me a work permit. I immediately search a lot of authenticity and finally i got this website to trace their credibility and let me know how i can get the concrete information about this company.www.consultant.com with the new email id eurogrante@consultant.com

They mention my basic pay is 4300 Euros , 800 Euro (Monthly Pocket Allowance), Free meal with accomodation, free laptop for office and home, free mobile and landline calls and also pick and drop facility.

    Is it possible?

I shall be very kind enough if you send me updates.

    Waoww…
From Toronto, Canada, I received postmail letter same as described in post 50 above.
I was kind of fool but thought it might be true…since it is originated in a modern society/country such as Spain (not Nigeria) Called in and spoke to some guy who claims is DON MARTIN RODRIGO VICENTE. Calmly he confirmed I won 575,982.30 Euros …bull shit. He added I should fill in the form and choose the option of payment… no money have been asked from me though…
Told him is Driver’s licence ok enough or should I had in a copy of my Canadian Passport…he said ”preferably copy of passport”

I can’t believe Spanish Gov is tolerating this kind of spam…false info being sent to correct addresses and honest citizen around the world.

I believe the poilice in Spain as well as Gov in the USA and Canada, Australia, UK are well aware of this wrong doing… and still tolerating it.

    Going back to work…

Got the same letter as the guys above and was ecstatic upon it’s reciept. However, how can I win a lottery in Spain if I have not even been to that country, nor even speak enough Spanish to buy a goddamn ticket!!! I have been holding on to the letter until I’ve completed my background checks. Well, after seeing this webiste, I guess it’s really dumb of me to keep holding on as it’s obvious that it’s a SCAM. Unbelievable!!!

received same letter today, from loteria primitiva, tried to call at 10PM Toronto’s time, the phone is turned off, I know that the Police wouldn’t do anything, Scams were never a priority, the police don’t try to catch even the local scammers why would they bother with the international ones. the sad thing is that people do fall for this, I myself thought that the letter with all the reference numbers looked very credible, but i wondered why would they send a scanned copy instead of an original. I’m sure that the names used are fake. so apparently there isn’t much we can do about this but inform others and ask them to be careful.

November 24, 2007 9:00 am. I received a letter exact content as that in post 45 above with the same winnings (that’s rediculous). The letter was addressed to my husband and since it mentioned it’s going to expire on the 30th of Nov i gave this Mr Don Martin Rodrigo Vicente a call telling him my husband is away so we can’t beat the Nov 30th deadline to claim the prize. He said i can claim it on his behalf, i even asked him how we won in the lottery, i don’t recall his answer because i was in a shock state at that time. I went online to check about them and here i am waking up to the reality that i did not win anything. I was thinking what to do with the money….hahaha.

I received a letter last week from El-Catalejo Lottery Board S.L. Which came to me via Canada Post, forwarded to my new address, after putting in a change of address with post office. Because I had been playing the Euro Millions Lottery, I believed it could be true. I called Don Martin Rodrigo Vicente, who asked me to fax over the completed form and a valid piece of I.D. I sent him the completed form and a copy of my Drivers license. Today I received a call from him, asking me to send a money gram for $ 2,750.00 to Malcom Francis C Bugos 58 28141 Madrid Spain. Also he said to make sure that my name was on the receipt for the money gram and fax the receipt to 011-34-911-849-860. At that time once the payment was received, the money would be paid to me by bank transfer. What can I do to stop them from using my Drivers I.D. and bank transfer information against me.

received from EURO MILLIONS INT’L Lottery board SL.Madrid Spain 2weeks ago.I filed it without viewing, that’s where it should have stayed,OOPS i peeped,WOW it blew me away, i believed it to be true and official.Batch, Referance, Track, and Winning numbers. I phoned to verify the statement made, spoke to a DR Joesph Lopez the agent, who seemed genuine, he constantly expressed CONGRATULATIONS you have won. On Saturday 15th December 2007 at 2.30am New Zealand time, I received a call from Mr Oscar Ripol, the Bank Manager of BANK SANTANDER MADRID,SPAIN, he requested I pay $1950.U.S. for Bank Transaction fees. I stated, U take out before sending, he said, No can do. By this stage it sounded questionable as to the lottery being legit. Im lucky for the support of my family and friends as I would have been swallowed up and spat out. Near enough a gullable believer. I intend to cancel my bank a/c number given, lucky I only had $2.00 in it. Im hurt over this as I had big plans of donating some of the money to the Childrens Hospital. I didn’t lose anything, just gained a fat telephone bill. OLD SAYING, BUYER BEWARE, it’s your own actions you suffer by.

    OMER,

    Its a fake!
Also, DO NOT send any money or bank details to them.
Ask them to call you and find out how they got your address and who registered you for the lottery.

I wish someone would physically meet the scammers and tell us what they look like. I would love to put a fist in their face.

I personally have never fallen for such scams (and I’ve got about 100 such letters/emails till date). However, I am sure there are some people who are gullible enough to fall for this.
I wonder how much money such scammers have made… maybe millions of $$$ ?!?

I saw a show ”Dateline NBC, to catch a scammer” which attempted to catch and expose the ”Nigerian inheritence fund” type of scammers. Was quite funny.

Any ideas where or how they get my addresses? I don’t recall giving my postal address to dodgy sites.

I don’t recall giving my postal address to dodgy sites.

we can be aware of something but it also can be very easy to fall into the trap of this scam.

im so glad to have read mail of others. YES i have received a letter to my address with my full name/sir name from this loot winning company. I am aware of scams and so have been trying my best to get the people of my back, i have questioned them on the phone. i have spoken to african accent men, one from the bank of spain and other from the security company pacific segurosa s.a. they are asking me for money transfer of £1,995 to release my check of 615,810 euros. i tried to be clever i have bank details from, them to transfer this money i have names and numbers as i knoe people to get money can make up companies which do not exist.

but guess what the man gave me not a company name but a personal account details. the one at the bank calls him self dr affa de louis and the other at the company is mr daniel wilson. be aware of them,

i then asked for a confirmation letter for the sum i would send so i have some back up, guess what i get via email. a certificate of my winnings, i was told i bought stuff in spain and i won which is all rubbish i never have.

i have been now searching for real life evidence of people like this and i have come accross others who have been through.

i may have been clever but i did fall for the trap i did want to see what happens so i did send a fax with my name and address to them, but now im worried hope nopthing is used.

i need help, advice that i am still safe.

I received a letter in my name dated 31/01/08 telling me of a prize E615810. The contents of the letter were very similar to those posted above with minor variations. Letter came from Mrs Maria K Gomez, vice president and the agent’s name is Oscar Garcia. The tel nos are slightly different. Needless to say I shall not be sending my bank details. If anyone has done so they should inform their bank at once and ask them to stop any withdrawals. I intend to inform my local trading standards officer.

Hey, you ok, thanks for the above comments, was really into this as about to loose my house due to losing my job, so this really appealled to me. After faxing back the letter, i recieved a call to say that asi was not a spanish citizen i would need to pay, 1800 pounds for insurance purposes, when i said i did not have that sort of money, they told me to get in touch with the security comapny who would help me out with the payment. So i spoke to the security company, who then said i would have to pay the full amount to get the cheque, sent out in the post, he even told me to check the internet, and that they was a real company! hense i checked and found you guy’s, thank you for saving me money that i really have not got, nice idea, though to get money for nothing!

My 88-year-old mum, who visited Spain back in 1959, got a similar letter yesterday from Lototurf (Lotoluck) Loterias S.L. in ”Bacelona” (they can’t even spell!) with much the same wording in it & saying she was awarded euros 680,000. The dead giveaway was the very pixellated logo (low-res, probably taken off the Internet) of Apuesta Hipica Lototurf, a legit lottery body, used as a kind of letterhead. Thanks to all you guys & girls, I know what’s up & am not going to reply. But I am going to complain to the Spanish Embassy here in Singapore. I’m also going to tell my colleagues in the media & hopefully they will do an expose & warn people of these scams. Thanks again to all!

    Hi there

I have received a letter 29 Feb 2008 very similar to the ones stated above. Like many others it has great appeal as my situation, finanically, is not great and am in alot of debt. i live in Dublin and couldnt believe my luck when I read the letter. I knew I hadnt been to Spain recently or even bought a lotto ticket. The letter states that I hVE WON €815,510.00 and its from the DESK OF THE VICE PRESIDENT, INTERNATIONAL PROMOTIONS/PRIZE AWARD. It gives me a batch no and also a reference no. I rang the telephone number provided, 0034-696-714-085 and what sounded like a spanaird answered the phone and couldnt understand a word here said. The background noise was like he was in an office enviroment. Like the other letters, it asks for me to fill out the payment processing form but doesnt ask for any next of kin details. My ”agents” name is Don Luis Benito, a foregin service manager. Also the 10% that has to be paid is supposedly to ”GLOBAL HOGAR SECURITY COMPANY SA” as they bought the ticket on my behalf.

I would love for this to be true but judging by the postings above it aint.

The heading on the letter is INTERNATIONAL LOTTO COMMISSION” ”LOTERIA PRIMITIVA” The address on the letter is ”C/VIRGEN DE LOS PELIGROS 13, C.P 28013 MADRID SPAIN”. Strangely enough the telephone number just below the address differs from the one half way down the letter, it is as follows: 0034 911-011-943, apparently is doubles as a fax number.

Why is this happening and where are the details, ie postal address’, being received from???? Its kind of frightening to think that someone out there as my address that I dont know or havent physically given to someone

    Regards

I am from Melbourne, Australia have also received a letter stating I won $915, 000 ! Sounds exciting and I was thinking of calling them. Then again, I thought to myself, did I buy any lottery tickets or did I go to spain??? Better do some research about it first, too good to be true. Guess what, I found this webpage. I am a little concerned from where do they get my address and name!
The letter has a post mark from Spain and was sent overseas so how could they get my info ???
    Agent: Mr Manuel Sanchez
    Tel: 0011 34618254230
    Fax: 0011 34912919660
11 Avda, de la constitucia Pradillo 28014, Madrid Spain. Tel: +34634135386

Please advise if you have contacted authorities and what was their response?

I almost fall for it! What happens to those people who actually falls for it? Sounds bad but some think don’t think right. When they see the large cash!!!!

just received my letter…same content as everyone elses. Worrying isn´t that they´re still in business? I conclude that it must be paying off as a money making sketch. Does anyone fancy informing the press as I think that not everyone, particularly older people, uses the internet to check things out.
I wonder where they are obtaining the addresses from, as although I am British I live in Germany, so what list would that be?

I have received a similar official looking letter to the the communications noted by the preceding correspondents. I was mildly tempted but suspicious and was glad to see my suspicions confirmed at this web-site. I will reply asking them to denote all my winnings to my favourite charities and ask them to notuify me when they have done so. I wonder if I’ll hear anything?

Hi all, I received a letter today saying I had won 785,510 euros! Hooray I thought at first! Then had a reality check, realised I’d never entered the Spanish Lottery and googled all the names and addresses on the forms! This is a well known scamm – they will bleed whoever gives them their bank details dry! Best place for the letter is on the fire! Just remember – if it seems too good to be true – it is! Especially if you’ve never entered the lottery to start with!!!

This website is very helpful; got the lottery letter today (won’t go into details, which are very similar to those described above) and binned it. Those crooks must have made a lot of money already, as I can see from the above correspondence that people do get caught and send at least some of the so called ”fees” in hope that they will get their ”win” in the end. The sad thing is that it is usually the desperate ones, who just increase their debt through ingnorance. But I know those scamming bastards will get what they deserve in the end.

My letter is from Juan Ramos Antonio. Received it in the post today, in Ireland. So I google-ed ”ministerio de economia y hacienda” and this site was one of the results. I want to thank all you people who have left comments. I was very suspicious at first, but now I’m sure this has to be a scam. I wish we could do more to catch these low-lifes who are robbing and intruding on innocent people. Does anyone have advice…?

    Oh my god!
I received a letter yesterday from EURO MILLONES LOTTERIA Y APUESTAS S.L. award co-organised by the World Tourism Organization and the Spanish Ministerio De Hacienda on the 23rd of May 2008 saying that I had won 615,810 euros.
I LIVE IN ICELAND! I have never been to Spain and I was very suspicious so I phoned the number and talked to the agent Don Manuel Gomez, the Foreign Operations Manager of Winther Seguros S.L.

He said congratulations and asked for all my bank details, I offered to fax him the details that were required and said thank you.

He phoned me today before I had faxed him the letter, and asked me to send 1990 euros so he would be able to send me the winnings.

I said ‘I’m sorry, I have no money, but you may deduct the fee from the winnings’
Gomez: Hmmmm, if you have a credit card, then you can deduct it from that…
Me: I have no credit card.
Gomez: No, no, It costs money to transfer the money, but you can fax your signature saying that you want a loan for 1990 euros from the committee until you have received your winnings.
Me: It does not cost money to transfer money, I have used the internet before.
    Gomez: This amount requires it.
Me: How did I win this money, I hardly believe it!
Gomez: I will check, I will call you back.

    He calls back:
Gomez: Yes, you have been in a hospital in Iceland.
    Me: I work in one.
Gomez: Yes, it comes from when you were treated there. Not because you work there.
Me: I thought that information was confidential!
Gomez: I can find out everything about you through the internet, if you have children… I can call you next week with this information if you don’t believe me…
Me: No thank you. I will fax you the letter you sent with the information required, I expect you to send me a receipt for the fax straight away. I will not give you money to send me my winnings because there is no need for it if it’s not a scam.

Then I decided to have a look on the net…
    Thank God for that!
I will talk to the police in Iceland and phone this Gomez person and find out more.

I my name is tina, I also got this email twice during this week (beginning Jul 08), what annoying was they sent them through my office email address (how can they know it). Since beginning I didn’t want to believe this and I’m glad that I found this share so I knew that this is kind of a fraud.

Hi there. Well it looks as though I am a most recent ”WINNER”/VICTIM of the euromillones scam! I too received a rather convincing letter from Euromillones lottery primitiva s.a. dated 30th June 2008. A private letter, proper stamp and posted from Malaga, Spain.
The all too familiar statement, informing me that I had won 615,810.00 euros from a total cash prize of over 12 million euros.
I have to admit it did make my heart race, thinking quietly to myself that people DO win the lottery, and I do enter the euro lottery, and what’s more, they were not asking for any money!
I phoned the telephone number 0034-691-604-136 and spoke to a DR VICTOR PEREZ, who went through the motion of convincing me that this was VERY genuine, and after some rather probing questioning on my part, told me that he worked for Spanish government in the Ministerio De Hacienda! I was a very lucky lady, and God wanted me to have this good fortune, and that I would be offered out to Madrid to his office as a guest!! Very nice I’m sure!
I have since received a certificate of authorisation and approval from the lottery….. so far so good…. and I am awaiting my telephone call from the Spanish bank at any time now!
Thank Heavens I came across your web-site as I have recently had a substantial sum of money transferred from Spain,(from the sale of a house) and they charged me over a thousand euros for some unknown reason just for transferring it to my bank (I’m still fighting that one!) So I could have believed it was feasible to send them money.
As sad as I am, that I am obviously not a lottery winner, I am most grateful that I have not become yet another victim to this SICK, scandalous SCAM!!
    Thanks again.

The last paragragh in my above statement is INCORRECT the CFR DOES NOT forward information to local police, FBI,authorities or use the information to help push through legislation to enact laws…the mistake is mine…Sorry people.
Their real aim is…(qoute ”Consumer Fraud Reporting is an free online service to warn consumers about specific types of financial and other scams via the internet and provide a means to report scams and fraud.

In addition to thousands of actual examples of scam letters, emails, faxes and transcripts of phone conversations to help you identify a scam, we have many pages of concise lists of contact information, links, phone numbers and guidance to help you report the scam to the proper authorities, and to try to recover your loss.

To keep up to date on the types of scams in global circulation we stay in regular contact with overseas consumer agencies.

Consumer Fraud Reporting is fully independent and objective; it is not a government agency or affiliated with any government; we act as an information exchange to help raise public awareness about scams and to help to bring them to the attention of the proper enforcement authorities. Unfortunately, we do not have enforcement powers over local or overseas scams; but we aim to help you to find the proper enforcement agency! Hi from Madrid. The scam continues. Two points: all Spanish phone numbers beginning (0034) 6xx xxx xxx are mobiles. No self-respecting company would use these (especially not a state-run company such as the Lottery). And, of course, as Springer (89) says- if it seems too good to be true, it is!

    Hi all,

Yes, I too received a letter in the mail saying that I had won 615,810 euro, but being the sceptic that I am I didn’t believe it. Here is a list of things that threw me off straight away which others should look for that will confirm that it’s all crap:

*First of all it was address to my surname
*If you look carefully enough 2 different fonts are used in the body of the letter
*The email addresses provided were gmail and yahoo email addresses (not official organisation ones)
*It didn’t have an official letter head (it looked as though it was a copied or scanned image because it looks very pixelated)
*There was no return address on the envelope (and surely a lottery organisation can afford their own official envelopes)
*They didn’t even ask for a copy of the lotto numbers for proof etc…
*And lastly, I didn’t enter any lotto program

So to anyone that does get an email or letter, I know these people are stink for doing this and getting peoples hopes up, but DO NOT GIVE THEM ANY OF YOUR INFORMATION AND DELETE IT OR THROW IT AWAY!!!!!

    Good luck to all!!

Same here, the name of the guy this time is Cayetano Rousa tel. 0034 634761415. The company is Compania de Seguros Santalucia s.a. in Madrid, I called the company taking their number from their official internet site and they told me it’s scam.

I too received a similar letter asking me for my bank details. This is an attempt by a fraudster and I am sad that the Police allow these scams to continue thus putting the unsuspecting people into enormous problems. Why cant the police in Spain break into the premises where these fraudsters live and arrest them.

If you have not played a lottery then you have not won.

No legitimate Lottery would ask you for personal details or to send them money.

If they really require a fee for releasing the money (although this is highly unlikely) then the fee would be taken from the winnings itself. Not from your account.

They prey on good peoples trust and once they know they are getting under your skin they do not stop.

    Trash it

My wife received a letter nfrom The Spanish Euromillions Loteria International S L today – letter dt 16 th October 2008. that she won an award of Euros 815950 and a form has been enclosed which she has to send after filling a lot of personal and bank details . It is to be claimed before 12 th November 08.

I dissuaded her for not falling for this scam . I feel it is asking us to give all details . They may even send some money and may be immediately some Terrorist organization would phone us and demand the money failing which face dire consequences.

Is it a scam or some arrangement to aid international terrorists ? Spanish Government should look into this critically and arrest the people if they are in Spain

    @M MGadre:

It’s just a scam – nothing worse than that – but a scam can be bad enough. You wouldn’t see any money. Just a lot of small fees, taxes and sometimes even bribes that have to be paid. In the end you will just stop paying.

Hi, my friend Samali, told me that she had won the lottery and initially i was very happy for her. She went on to tell me that it was in euros. I then became suspicious for her and told her to bring all the paperwork round to my house later that evening. Even looking at the paperwork i still was confused and thought it may be genuine. They too were asking for 2,500 euro for non resident tax. However, thankfully my husband is very au fait with the internet and knew what to type in to see if it was for real or a scam. Sadly, for my friend it was a scam, but i am grateful she did not part with any money. BE WARNED don’t give any bank details, or phone details

    Hi
Yep… l too received the promise of a small fortune from ‘The Spanish Lottery’ through my letterbox recently. I am in no doubt, this is a genuine communication and am about to send copious amounts of cash as instructed to the nice Dr Jon Carlos.

Before l complete the transaction however, l must first make contact with my Psychiatrist, just to check that l have not completely lost my mind!!

Ok, just because you 134 people are upset at not actually winning (spelt ‘wining’ in my letter) anything, I have!. and i’ve got the letter to prove it. Ha! all I’ve got to do is send my bank details and ‘hey presto’ I’ve got a tidy sum to play with.
Realy enjoyed telling my boss to stuff his job as he was a poor w*****r in comparison just before heading off to the mercedes showroom and then on to the best resteraunt my bank manager cant afford, as i took great pleasure in letting him know.
Mr Smith, I would just like to say I’m available for overtime if you can find it in your heart to forgive me.
Mr Jones, I really will pay my overdraft off (as soon as I get employment)
P.s. anybody want to buy a Mercedes 500 sl? arrives monday.
    R these people for real?????

People, this kind of scams exists from the start of times, its just that internet gives people doing it a strong layer of anonimicy, and is quite cheep for them to to send millions of emails.

The way to fight this is to educate people about how to recognize fake emails, do real checkups (phone calls, info request trough official websites of organizations) when email looks legitimate, and just use better spam filters.

Hope this helps someone just start not paying atention wo these, if they get to a level where they have to send an email to 50MM people, and 1 responds, then, they will just drop it and get a real job.

    Later!

The funny thing is that not only do they send ”photocopies” of dodgy-looking headed paper but they also have a typo in the very title of the letter. ”Lotería”, señores, not ”Lotteria”. Another interesting detail… they keep changing the address for each an every victim they target.

Ah, well, the mink and the yellow diamonds will have to wait, I’m afraid. Good for the chap that wrote to the Ministerio de Economía y Hacienda. We’d be interested to know if

Thank you for this website which enabled me to compare the letter addressed to my wife on the envelope but no name within, dated 29th Jan 2009, with all the others.
”Her” letter was signed DON ANTONIO PEDRO, Vice President International Lottery Board S.L. The questionaire was headed ALLIED WELLS SECURITY COMPANY S.L at Av. De San Morales, no. 25, Blk 7D, C.P. 28006 Madrid Spain. Tel 0034 689 264 739 Fax 0034 911 014 328.

This letter was very similar to all the others quoted so they are still at it and should be arrrested. The winning sum this time was/is 1.015.000 euros, so it’s going up!

Please someone get the Spanish Police onto the job. The main clues were mobile phone numbers, pixilated print, no name in the address, grammatical mistakes in the English, inconsistant varying font and a generally phoney feel. This is similar in style to the Nigerian scams which raged on. A wealthy acquaintance was taken in by one of those and near beggared, BEWARE and do not be gullible.

Do NOT bother to open a new account to receive this. Do NOT release any personal information. Do NOT even reply, it will cost an international call, you will be badgered to send a fee and so on. If you didn’t enter this ”lottery” in the first place you can’t have won. As has been said ”there’s no such thing as a free lunch”. The guys at the other end are unpleasant, clever, tenacious and criminal. Beyond handing such a letter over to your national police’s Fraud Squad or whatever do NOTHING.

Just a quickie on this subject today I receieved a letter as above same figure, I phoned Dr Garcia and told him I would be in Madrid on Thursday and could we conclude the tranasaction there and then.

My mother-in-law received this letter in UK dated 30 August 2010 with an address in Madrid. She knew it was a scam but the funny thing for us is that I work in Madrid a few doors away from the address given. I went to see the ”agency” but it is just a residential building and the number given, 249D, could be any of 7 different flats as the letter doesn’t state which floor! The fax and ‘phone numbers work but they guy doesn’t want to talk. I am handing the letter in to the local police station so they can take whatever action they like.

    Hello,all you winners,

After winning billions without a single ticket bought via e-mail,I have received my first actual letter, winning 915.777euros from some spanish Loteria Nacional, with address in Portugal.
You’d think that if they have that kind of money, they could afford a decent copy machine, and a course in spelling and grammar.

What I actually wonder,is if anybody is still fooled by this.I mean, even the donation request from the local church choir looks more professional.
Working as a decorator in film,I would at least have some respect,if they took some care in their fraud work.

I’m thinking of giving them an example of proper work by making up a warrant by some imaginary international anti-fraud police force, and sending it to their address.

    Let’s have fun.

    Paul
