Fell for this. Don’t ask me why please it’s already painful enough. What am I exposing myself to? What should I do about this?? I already did all the bank stuff…

Just don’t send them any money, whatever they say.
If you live somewhere, where banks are reasonably secure, they won’t be able to get access to your accounts just by having a copy of your passport and your accounts, but if you feel insecure about it, ask your local bank office.

Otherwhise. Just ignore them (or send me the e-mails where they start begging you to proceed.

Got an exact thing daed 13th July 2007 but its through the post and not email. They have improved. Even use good quality paper for the scam. The things that stopped my spouse and myself is the attached form that looks like its printed freshfrom a low quality printer, the agent’s company name and the advise to keep it top secret. Which lottery draw will keep the winners secret?

Furthermore, the letter’s main page has pictures of the winners but then we were not asked to strike a pose to get our picture taken. All they wanted was our account number and our date of birth. Also now the so-called application form has a next of kin column to fill out. I really wonder what they are thinking. Perhaps they thought the winner will die of a heart attack knowing that he or she had won a lottery that they had never bought.

Anyway we played along and gave him; the so-called agent all types of bull, for example D.O.B is 29th February 1978 etc. They got the message after a few calls. Wasn’t very happy with us though. Well, two can play at the same game. 😀

Hi, I have also received a very similar letter today. The name of Dr. Rafael Manuelo is the same but the signature is by Donald Fernandez, the Vicepresident of the Lottery Award Board!!!! Also the address is different, not in Barcelona anymore but in Madrid. There are 2 of them. One is; Romano No. 19, planta 5. 28011 in Madrid and the other, with the Alcance Financiero S.L. letter, is; 21 Planta Andalucia 2a, 18905, also in Madrid. I did not get an e-mail, but a letter instead with my correct address on the envelope. Nevertheless, I decided to check it out on internet as it was too good to be true. Thanks to the sender of the original letter in 2004 !!!! if I hadn’t seen it, I would probably have answer the scam. Ciao

i received the letter this morning. telling me that i have won 960.000.00 euros on the loteria nacional the letter came from barcellona.
i had the good sense to chek it out on the internet and i found this website,iam am greateull for the existance of this website for warning myself and others like me

Hi, I received a similar one. The problem with these is who do you report these to? Asking to keep it quiet is a real red flag period. These people are cockroaches!

I also just recieved the famous letter from Spain telling me that I won money but it is from Loteria Primitiva. The address is Romano No 19 Planta 5, 28011 Madrid, Spain It has the same information like all of the other people who have written. I also have the second page asking for my bank account and branch number. They also ask for the next of kin. Boy I wonder what they need that for. Hope this helps someone.

Hi! I just received a letter like this by post today. As I have been in the past months in Spain I tought it was real….for about 5 seconds:))))
The first thing i did was search the net and found you. Iwas sure it is a scam, but this website really confirmed it. The funny thing is the ones that have sent it also asked in the so called ”Payment processing form ” for the banck account number and the swift code:))) like I would be that stupid to really send it to them.
Though something does seem odd to me:they knew my exact adress(moved a year ago to a new flat) and my new name(i just got married) .

In the email to me it’s the same as above, no bank details required, so I presume they ask for that in later correspondence? Any hoo, cheating, scamming, scumbags is what I have to say about them, even worse tho was the one I received last week from a Nigerian who lost her husband, will in probate and wants to forward the money to me to help fund a christian childrens home – sick.

Thought it was a scam, so I checked on line and lo and behold, here I am.

During my time in Spain, nowhere did I leave my e-mail address, except in Madrid at the Tourist Information Office at Plaza Mayor, when I used their internet access to book a hotel for the night.

The e-mail is very similar to the one posted by Angel above over a month ago – even the same claim agent name – just the address is different, and the e-mail address is no longer .es but now is .de

I recieved this letter today,they basically ask for personal details, and at the most one’s bank account number, what big benefit do they get from it? My father has expired, the lottery has come in his name, and i dunt know whether he filled any in his life…checked this website, found out it was a scam after all, but what do they get from individual personal details of random people across the globe…this cant even serve a marketing purpose! Im confused.

Excellent they have made it all the way to New Zealand from Madrid, The closest I have been to Madrid is watching the wild hogs movie, Maybe the movie rental company sent my details???? LOL

hi yes i too got this same email so why not play this silly game with a little bit of fun send back some made up info wait for the reply then send back a f off email to them and let them scamer waste their time some too and by the way you never send bank number or id number to any one you dont know no matter what they say, give them worng address, age, sex, phone nubers (unless you like to let them have it over the phone if they think they can call you )etc…..

Warning over fraud

Loteríanacional.com wants to alert the public about certain criminal groups, using the good name of the National Lottery, have swindled several people from around the world.

To commit fraud, delincuentes- of various nationalities begin contacting potential victim through an electronic communication which contained logos identical to those used by banks and agencies, and where he was reported to have won a substantial prize awarded by the official Spanish lottery.

It even uses the names of prestigious institutions such as Gordo, or the Primitive. Then, ask the victim to establish telephone contact with an ”agent” who will be responsible for processing the payment of the prize. The ”agent” requires the payment of a certain amount of money by way of bank charges, insurance, etc.. However, those offenders urged his victim to deposit the money order in one of the many who have bank accounts around the world presenting false identities. Once deposited the required amount, the ”agent” disappears, leaving his victim not only with empty pockets, but also with broken dreams.

This kind of organization also misrepresents printed names and signatures applying the system of fraud from other countries (mainly Germany, Belgium, Holland, UK, South Africa and Switzerland) for defrauding Spanish or Latin American, although there have been similar scams in areas of Southeast Asia and the Pacific and the Americas.

Stop misleading people ok! Why don’t you also state that there are genuine lotteries.I just won the same LOTERIA NACIONAL that you state is a scam,and I almost lost the money because of the misleading information you place on your website.There can be no fake if there is no real.

It has happened before, and each and every time a ”winner” has come forward to comment on my blog, it has been from an IP address belonging to Nigeria or some other west african country. Mauritius is a bit off, but still.

I have never stated that Loteria Nacional itself is a scam, but anyone stating that you can win money from it without first purchasing a lottery ticket is a fraudster.

Just got the same letter with some different fax numbers but come from Barcelona Spain. Looks very good on paper won 960.000,00 eur only. Answered all our emails very persistent they are. Waiting for cheque ha ha. I just cant believe there are people in this world with nothing better to do than scam people get a real job you bunch of losers. Thanks for useful info. I have just ‘WON’ £700,000 on the Loteria Nacional S.A. Supposedly this was the winning lottery ticket in the 2nd category. Letter was on good quality paper, mailed in Malaga, 03/01/08 with sticky address label and proper franked stamp. Headed Christmas Bonanza Golden Chance!! with colour photo top right hand corner.
Interestingly the letter was accompanied by a photocopy of the original winning ticket with the date of the draw 22nd Dec 2007; and a website address for further details http://www.cestas-de-navidad.net/sorteo-loteria-navidad . On checking the website this was indeed the winning ticket of
1 million euros BUT IN 2006! Clever stuff indeed as I was begining to feel it was the real thing!

Hello! I received a similar letter from an international lotto commission located at Plaza Romano No 19 Planta 5 28011 Madrid on January 7th. The text was even translated into poor German. Thanks to this very helpful information on this website which confirmed my doubts. I was also supposed to provide detailed information about my bank account etc. and they wanted me to pay a 5% commission to a company called ”Globale Sicherheit Firma SA”.

I´m from Germany and I received a letter similar to the first one. This time it is supposed to be a Exite Seguros S.A. from Madrid involved. There is not such a company. On the head of the claimform there is a real existing company listed in small print (Catalana Occidente Group) this is a real insurance company with headoffice in Barcelona. The phone numbers are real, but the web site (www.exiteseguros.com)is not exsisting. A e-mail what I send to the given adress (email-exiteseguros@madrid.com) has not been returned as failed, so I presume someone got my mail. I ask them to send me a functional web adress. Our Police told me to destroy that letter because they can´t do anything. There must be a way to get this idiots,maybe someone knows how!

My husband received a similar letter today. So far these spams have been only thru emails.. now by snail mails also!
Well, as far as I am aware, they can benefit in 2 ways:
One, as in one of the above messages, they get some money upfront from us and then disappear.

Hi ………….. I am so disappointed got the same leter but from Madrid and I only won £715,810.00!!! My first reaction was my Mum had bought me a ticket whilst on holiday in Spain (she goes quite regularly, and I woould have given her a share)

Any way left it in the hands of my mum for her to check it out and she found this website instantly.

My mother received a letter today from LOTERIA NACIONAL. Just from the context and appearance (simialr to previous El Gordo letters) I figured it was a scam and your site and others has confirmed it. I always wondered how you won a lottery without buying a ticket. She could use the money as she’s recently widowed and wasn’t sure if my father had bought a ticket previously – but a little research has shown it just more fraud. These people should be, as Dickens so graphically put it, ”boiled with his own pudding, and buried with a stake of holly through his heart”.

I got an email in one of my more obsure accounts. I was shocked as it said I need to reply before 15 Jan and I didn’t see it before 5th Feb. I nearly rang them up to beg for an extension!

I have just recieved a letter notifying me that i won a lump sum of 615,810.00 euro and a form to fill and send it to them. No way they should find another way to earn money.How do they find our names and address. Your site has confirmed that it is a scum.

I got a regular post correctly stamped envelope with the same kind of notification from Spain to Scotland, UK. I wonder how much they gain from naive people that they continue such procedure? There is no police action worldwide to stop this crime since at least 2004 – 4 years!!!

Zut alors! And there I was thinking we could leap frog onto the UK housing market with the €615,810 I’d apparently won on the ”Euromilliones Lottery Promotion Program” …

On first read of the letter, which had a number of Spanish stamps and franking marks, I was excitedly racking my brain re what competitions I may have entered recently as I do love entering competitions (a secret vice!)…

I then read ”remember 10% of your winnings belongs to ALCANCE FINANCIERO S.L. because they are the security company that bought your ticket and played the lottery on your name” and that’s when I realised this was yet another of those beep beep scams about which our anti-money laundering officer at work is forever warning us. A google search confirmed this 🙁

I live in Australia and received a very elaborate letter (not e-mail, mind you) containing the same … good thing, I did not splurge immediately, but checked the internet first. I never thought I’ll feel sorry for being picked a ‘winner’. Nevertheless, thank you for validating that I am still a thinking person acting rightly.

Received similar letter dated 4-02-2008,won 815,810,00 euro’s. Feel something should have been done before now on these crooks. BIN the best place for the letter.

Talk about your first class Nigerian ”scam” operation, these guys have come a long way from email notices of government funds for assistance in shipping it out of the country to international lottery. Remember the dead give away is their African voice or tone. They are no where close to sounding like someone from Spain. Another giveaway is when they mention that your check will be delivered in a diplomatic pouch. Huh!? No country on this planet has such a policy for delivery of lottery items, etc.
I am wondering why the INTERPOL has not investigated this matter with the countries these con-artists operate in? It is obvious this is a worldwide epidemic that will not cease anytime soon. These ”leeches”are very well informed and innovative (I’ll give them that). The FBI should also investigate this matter. The local police departments do not have the resources, manpower or know-how to combat this worldly disease. I know for sure that my local Public Safety department is incapable and incompetent (sorry…the truth must come out). Next time you receive a notice similar to what you have, just turn it over to the FBI or fax it to INTERPOL. Speak with your Attorney Generals office to publicize your letter in the media for public awareness. (end)

Just got a letter with the same stuff dated 10-03-08 tilling me to fax the form with all my details and copy of passport. I would like to know how they got my name and address in the first place as only lived here for a few months and everything i do online is with a nickname not my real name. Taking the letter to the police tomorrow.

Hi. Just to let you know these scummy guys are still going strong. It’s now March 12 08 and I received a letter in my name to an address I have been living at for only 3 months. No idea how they got my details as I am so careful when it comes to data security. I even lie in shops when they ask for your phone number or postcode (whys is that) when they process your payment, regardless if its a cash or credit card payment. Anyway I loved the comment from Graeme #76 about reusing the letter to pick up your dogs poo in the garden….as a firm beliver in recycling I couldn’t think of a better use.

I have just received the same letter, telling me I’ve won £715,810.00! At first I laughed, but then I thought it looked more professional than most mailshot scams, so worth looking at more closely.

My first worry was that they were asking for my bank details, secondly that they were planning on keeping 10%, thirdly that I had never bought a ticket, fourthly the poor english on the letter, fifthly that I had to claim by the same date as my birthday (a conincidence?)…need I go on?

I dont understand why, if they had bought 25000 tickets and one was a winner, why would they not just keep it for themselves. Why send it to me, someone who had never registered with them and was not known to them…very strange.

So I decided to check it out and found this website, which confirmed my suspicions. Thank you all who have posted.

Just to note, the address on the letter was Avd. Juan Real 25 CP 28002 Madrid Spain.

So back to work next week for me, no early retirement…just yet.

These idiots may as well of stamped ‘SCAM’ on the letter. For one I have not been to Spain for a few years and they also asked for me to keep it quite and not tell anyone. Who are these guys kidding.

What saddens me is that these people are probably targeting elderly people who are non the wiser.

I wish there was something we could do to stop these people, but I am pretty sure they are ilusive.

Saying i won 815,810.00euros. giving me a reference no , batch no along with my lucky numbers. claim agent mr. antonio alba of ocaso seguros s.a.

With my letter was an PAYMENT PROCESING FORM asking for my full address witch they have allready got as they sent this to me in the post, and my bank details and next of kin.

there also ask me to keep this from public notice. I HATE them why do they think they have the right to do this. please anyone dont fall for it its all shit…….. I will be tacking mine to the police.

Hi i also received this letter through post, but im not that stupid to give away my bank details. if they really wanted to fool someone they should really consider getting a good quality printer, its like they used microsft word and threw a couple of pictures here and there with some big fancy words. Well, what do you know? Just recieved such letter last week! Actually, I’m just a wee bit surprised at how this blokes could have got my address here in SINGAPORE! The envelope was typed and stamped! It really is true … You need a bit of money and effort to make big money!

Did I win? I knew it was a scam. So I decided to check it out. Search: Loteria Nacional Madrid Espana. It lead me to this web-site which confirmed my initial instinct. SCAM! Why do the scammers keep getting away while the economy keeps tanking also. It doesn’t seem right. I hope this web-site helps those who question on returning the bank form that is attached to the letter that comes in the mail. DON’T fill it out! DON’T send it back!

From the moment I have open the mail I knew that that stuff was fishy.
I am glad this website existe, I will never I have given my bank details ( ID thieft is so in fashion) but I am sure it will prevent a lot of people to fell in it.
I will try to send them a email, if it work I will spam them a bit.
On more thing don’t count on the police to do something, it is far too much work for them. Leave them carry on eating their big fat doughnuts.

I have just recieved a letter notifying me that i won some lottery in Spain, and I was never there. I got it in a regular post, correctly stamped and everything. I would like to thank everyone for this page. By the way I live in Sweden.

They are still at it! I received a letter last week (undated)telling me it was my last chance to collect the E935,470.00 I had won on the Loteria Nacional. The address given was Calle Alora in Madrid, my agent is Dr Brown Louis and it was signed by Jose Miguel Fernandez. Of course I knew it must be a scam as I have never played this lottery but I hoped it might be true! I’m pleased I did a search and found this site. You are full filling a great public service and I thank you.

I recieved today in the snail mail from Dr Antonio Gomez a letter telling me that due to a mix up of some numbers and names in the draw held on 28th May 07, the results were released on 20th Feb 08 (?) and (lucky me!!) my name was attached to ticket number 113-3333-556 with serial number 2258-00 which drew the lucky numbers of 00-26-77-66-00-55 which consequently won the lottery in the 3rd category.

So I have been approved for a lump sum payment of Euro 920,810.00.

Don’t worry though…I know this is true because ”Names entered in the program were presented by ANDALUCIA VISTA S.A. in conjunction with a group of philanthropists, humanitarian organisations, and also with the help of chambers of commerce of high commision world wide.” and it is ”COMPREHENSIVELY INSURED IN MY NAME.”

Now i just have to contact my claims agent MR LUCAS RICARDO (foreign operations manager of LIBERTY SEGURO S.A. on telephone number 0034-655-343-071). And thank God for that because with the cost of petrol the way its going I am going to need every Euro of it so I can fill up this weekend.

In the last month I have received six emails about winning 1m euros (various names of Dutch lottaries) and today a letter from Loteria Nacional – also one million. I am angry they have my full name and address.

We’ve just recieved a letter for my dad from Spain telling him that he’d entered a lottery draw in April 2008 and won a lump sum pay out.

Thankfully i am cynical enough to google it – don’t get me wrong, i had it all spent in my head in the time it took for me to log on 🙂 Hope someone comes up with a way to get these scammers!!! I especially think the ”we ask you to keep this award top secret” part, was really sneaky!!!

Hi, received a letter today from loteria nacional and guess what!!!! No surprises there. I wish these guys would get a dose of their own medicine. For what its worth, I am 815,810.00 euros richer…

got the same letter, thought how can one win a lottery if they never paid for a ticket, plus me and my sister got the letter which i thougt was pretty weird – out of all the odds, and we live in the same house – same address!

My mum received a Loteria Nacional letter today, dated 24 May 2008, so they’re still at it! The address was ‘Calle Alora No. 35 Piso 2 F, 28004 Madrdid, Spain Tel: +34 634 251 072″ The signatory is Carlos Gomez, Managaing Director, Sadly, she fell for it. She phoned the number and explained that she doesn’t have a bank account (for them to pay the winnings into) so they suggested that they courier the money to her, but she would have to pay the courier charge of €950 (later downgraded to €715). Altenratively, she could pick it up in person but would have to pay a 5% ‘charity commission’ fee. A horrid scam that gets people’s hopes up before fleecing them. Awful. I intend to to report this to the police.

Luckily managed to stop my mother today from falling from this scam. She had recieved a postal letter and had made contact with a Dr LOUIS LOPEZ, She was getting excited as she had got told that they were going to send her a cheque via courier to arrive in next 14 hrs 🙂
However they required an upfront payment of £920 as insurance for the cheque they were going to send.
Luckily i popped in when she was getting ready to write a cheque to send all in good faith
Dr Lopez then rang again to discuss robbing my mother, erm i mean her good fortune in her very big win, i answered and had a few questions for him to answer. This made him very defensive as he started saying he was from a very big company and his professional reputation was paramount la de dah de dah etc. when i asked him to just deduct it from the overall amount, he came back with ”the funds have been allocated to your mother and deposited in the bank espania and cannot be broken down. A cheque has been drafted and will be sent upon them receiving her money.”

When i said they could wire us the money to an account over here, much more simple and quicker, and upon receipt of this money in our account we will send them the £920 plus the agents 5% and an additional 10% as a goodwill gesture, he got quite grumpy 🙂 he ranted on for a while about how the authorities over there in spain will not let them break the winnings and that wire transfering this much money could be questionable and raise suspision. I responded with ”well having to transfere £920 to such a big and professional comapny to insure the courier cheque seemed questionable to myself and very suspicious.” When i stated that at least Dick Turpin wore a mask he muttered something down the phone and the line went dead!!

Oh well, i really enjoyed our chat at their expense 🙂

we received a copy through the mail a few days ago. Return address is Madrid but it was posted in Barcelona (with an actual stamp, so at least the Spanish Post Office is getting some benefit from these guys)

It is dated 7th June and say that we were entered into the draw for 19th June, but due to a mix-up the results were released on 17th May. Our winnings are 935,470.00 euros.
Again we are asked to keep it a secret –to prevent ”undue taking advantage of this programme by participants”

got the letter today, 14th of june.
of course it was clear that it is a scam,
what worries me is where did they get the address?
does it have to do anything with spain at all? I actually was there on holiday some months ago and wonder if they raided the hotel customer list…. as the stamp on the letter is actually spanish, posted on the 9 june in malaga!

I got the same letter today via post from Spain, rang the number spoke to my agent, from the moment he picked up the phone, I knew it was a scam, He has a African accent with a spanish name and didn’t speak a word of spanish.

I live in UK, but I am from Africa, and speak Spanish

I didn’t give any bank details and decided to check on the net and just found you people with all these stories.

Just received a letter from Loteria Nacional – Tourism Promotion saying I have won £715,810!! This could have been paid by cheque or into my bank account. They are supposedly based in Calle, Meastro Victoria, 12-5, 28923, Madrid, Spain. Hi Im sarah and I come from Malta I received a letter in my post dated 04/08/08 and funnily enough it states the same as the above mentioned from LOTERIA NACIONAL stating that i won 935,470.00 euros it was a bit odd to me as I never entered any lotteries, however it stated that i was selected through a computer ballot system drawn from 25.000 names from Europe and america as part of our intrnational promotions progaram that they conduct twice a year .

I called up wasted 10 euros in credit 🙂 where i was told to transfer 2000 euros by Money Gram in order for them to pay the bank charges !!!!

I told this person which accordingly to the letter he is called Dr. Jose Garcia that this is sounding like a scam and he was than becoming more persistant he said that he id their to protect me and the best thing for me to do is to keep this confidential as if someone else tries to claim the winnings than the price will drop . ( THAT IS REALLY NOT A GULLABLE EXCUSE ).

I than told Mr Garcia that I would feel more safe if I had to do a bank transfer and he tod me that he will call me on Monday and provide me with the bank details. What I am going to tell him than is in order to go to spain and collect the money myself 🙂

My in laws got this letter. They are in thier 80’s but had the sense to pass the letter on to us as I am spanish. I took two minutes to google the page and strangely enough it’s a fake!!

The name has changed to Dr. Louis Lopez from Vitalico Seguros S.A now with an address in Madrid but all the rest is almost identicle to previous letters.

my gf dad recieved one of these letters in mail saying that he won a bit over 800 000 Euros. They’ve already called the number provided and an answering machine kicked in. They will not call the number again or send them any info thanx to you guys. Anyways, I am so glad that this blog exists (thank you whoever you are that opended it), so this way a regular citizen has some sort of protection from scams.

i received a similar letter today.they wanted me to send $25.00 for lottery tickets. must be a new tactic, if everyone sends $25 it would soon add up. this is our second letter in a year.

I just received a letter in the post informing me I have won a million euros, and asking me to visit their web site to confirm the amount (which I did), phone Mr Simon Morta (which I haven’t), and fax my details and those of my next of kin (which I haven’t).

Now whilst it would be nice to think I had really won a million euros, ‘you’ve got to be in it to win it’, as they say, and I didn’t buy a lottery ticket.

I got one last week! Rang the number and even filled out the form. Was all quite exciting for 1 minute!
But before dashing to the fax machine I googled it and found another site exposing it as a scam. So needless to say I didn’t fax over the form.
Mine didn’t require bank details, you can just tick a box for a cheque… why didn’t they just send me the cheque to my address like the letter if this was genuine?? Can’t imagine what they’d want with next of kin details either.
I will be putting the letter and the form I filled out straight into the shredder!

I did worse on request of friends. I transferred today £875 and was asked to send by fax to the barrister the receipt. Stupid me, I did, now they have my signature and bankdetails. I am going to warn the bank ASAP. Please don’t be as stupid as I was .

Just FYI. My bank stated that they always will check with me personally when receiving a request per fax, even if there is my (copied) signature on it. The bank that called me tonight (but the phone was taken by someone else) was also part of the scam, because my bank confirmed me that NO call went out from them to me today.
Once more, be warned. I get the money back from my friends. Feel sorry for them. Next time they will for sure be more sceptic and search the intenet before believing such a story. FYI. They had bought a lottery ticket in Spain.

Glad I am in such distinguished company…I too have won over 9 hundred thousand euros. After the first 30 seconds when I thought the universe was finally smiling upon me I realised it was a scam. I live in Australia and received the quite professional notification by snail mail. The envelope was postmarked Malaga and I was there two years ago hence the few seconds of considering the possibility of it being real.
The depressing thing about this scam is that they must be making money from it or it would not still be circulating…are there really that many gullible people in the world? It seems so and thanks for the website…it is great to have my suspicions confirmed.

I have just received a letter at my old address, regarding Loteria Nacional. It is a Tourism Board Promotion for Spain and states I am a third category winner. The letter says that my agent placed my name on a ticket and will receive 10% commission if I claim the amount of 915,810 Euros before October 25th 2008. My contact is Don Jose Pablo. They even went to the extent of explaining that someone entered my name for me.

I have recently been living in Hong Kong, where i did do alot of travelling and used a private travel agent to book my flights and make visa arrangements, so there is some link here to travel agent and Tourism board. Obviously a scam and I didn’t hesitate once to think otherwise, but this website is a blessing, as it truly confirms any anxieties one might have…

What I want to know is how they get your address…the address they sent it to I have not lived at for 6 months and only resided there for 1 month!!!!!! All my mailing address has been changed since, and luckily my friend lives there and opened it. Only living there for 1 month and they had that address! Before that I was living in HK…very strange…I think they have people working all of the world who are attached to phone companies, energy companies and just general organisations that have access to home/mailing address and working on some kind of commission…bit scary…I am having my letter sent over to me from Western Australia and lodging a complaint with the police here. Australian Police Services take fraud very seriously and hopefully will follow something up with this. I am disgusted that people do this, and what is even sadder is that we are allowed to be excited as humans when we win things, even ten dollars can be exciting, it is a fun thing in life and these people abuse that and take it all away! And worst, probably pay other people to do their dirty work a dollar a day!

I have just received The Letter telling me that I have won so many euros and that I must ring this number in Spain and tell them my bank details –

I am an older lady living on my own and can be taken in very easily at times and luckily I have good friends – so I looked up on the Internet and this is what i found

Yesterday I received a letter from the Loteria Nacional with the same contents as given in those above.
I was astonished because I didn’t buy any tickets nor took part in any winnings.
So I sent them an email to ask them how they picked my email-address. They answered in a long letter telling nothing – they only repeated what to do to get the money.
In the two mails from ”golfortunetrust” I found mistakes: 1. The spelling of ”Loteria Nacional”/”Lotteria Naccionall” was different; 2. The first sender’s address differed from the second one in the number of the houses (Paseo de Recoletos 20/2 in Madrid). I checked the addresses by Google maps and I found out that the first address belongs to the National Library in Madrid and the second one is the one of the ”Casa de America”! Funny isn’t it?
So I was more than curious and I phoned my named agent Mr. Martin-Agustin from ”Goliath Fortune Trust” today to get some information if they are really existing.

I was told that I was drawn out of a world wide e-mail pool and that I had won the amount of money for sure. The only thing I would have to do is to fill in the application form asking only for private data (name, address, etc., but no bank account/no demand for paying sums on delivery) asap. Then – when they will have checked the data during the next three or four days – they will invite me to Spain to get the money. (In the first email they let me choose between a bank transfer or a certified cheque!) Oh, how lucky I am! ;))
So I checked the internet once again and I found all your mails! Believe me or not – I am content with myself! I still realize when things smell! Take care!!!

I received one of those ”loteria nacional” notices too, so funny. I spoke with the agent and asked him just to send me the ”check”, as they had all the details they needed. I played along with the scam, acting like I was really pleased to have won but didn’t understand why the couldn’t just issue the check….the ”agent” eventually just put the phone down on me, lol.

Can someone give me the phone number for this scam again, as I threw out the paperwork but would like to use the ”agents” number as my phone number when other scammers are asking for this.

At present I have Dulwich Galleries pressing me for a phone number so they can contact me about some payments they need to make to my account….even when telling them in emails that I am ”pissing myself laughing” at their attempted scam they still come back for more. Love it.

I have just received the letter and my winning number i 46238 and I have sent them all the details of my bankaccount and now I am looking forward to receive my 612.000 euros. How lucky I am that there are still idiots out there who do no claim their winnings – giving me the chance to recieve the whole lot.

Just received a redirected Loteria Primititiva Gratis letter addressed to my father-in Law who sadly passed away some two months ago. Odd what. Are they getting addresses from the UK Register of Birth, Marriage and Death? Could be why they are asking for Next of Kin details?

They get your addresses from the very same sources that every other piece of addressed junk mail that lands in your mail box. Most addresses are for sale all over the world, and every time you submit your data on a coupon or such you add it to even more address databases.

I have received one of these letters from Spain every year for the last 3 years, and ignored them until this year, when I reported it to the relevent authority. Oddly enough, my winning ticket number is the same as that quote by Tita above about a week ago.

You know same format as the ones I have red, but on this one they sent me a check
for $ 4,900.00 dlls as part of my winning for the purpose of help me pay for the app licable government taxes Iam required to pay a total sum of $3,900.00.

Basically more of the same. The signatories are always Dr. or Prof or something like that. The English used is suspect at best (ie. African). Then the email address of the person who will help you get ”your fund(sic)” is usually a hotmail or yahoo address. My experience tells me that ALL loteries, bigger corporations, banks and goverment departments etc. have dedicated email servers, and NEVER uses public domain addresses for official business. I also agree, that it will never happen that a lottery will contact a winner, there is no way they can know the winner’s detail. Winners must claim their winnings by presenting the winning ticket. Would be very difficult if you never even bought a ticket…

Alfredo, my advice, bank the cheque, wait ten to twelve days – you will see it does not clear (or more likely, your bank will refuse to accept the cheque in the first place). If it does clear – you are 4900 USD up, if not, you lost nothing. If you contact them they will probably ask you to pay them the 3900 upfront (while waiting for the fraudulent cheque to clear), then the cheque does not clear and, guess what – you lost 3900 USD.

Alfredo. I agree with Red5. You should try to bank the check. But you should wait for up to 4 weeks until you do anything with the mone (i.e. send them any money back).

The scam here is delicate. You get a false or bouncing check, and most banks (at least in the US) will hand you the money with the right to take them back if the original check bounces. What the scammers hope for is that you will send them most of the money back before you realize that their check bounced.

In some countries, like Sweden, some banks won’t hand you any money until the check is cleared from the signing bank, and that’s why we don’t see as many of these scams here.

Got my letter this morning… same old stuff, i’ve just won 935,470.00 Euros and Carlos Santos, Scam Vice president of Scam City in Espania has invited me to take part in the next scam lottery for 1.3Million Euros. The letter even has a watermark! What is amazing is that the first post on this site was 2004 and it’s still happening 4 years later. My letter came in the snail mail not on email so they have expanded. There are too many of these scams happening and as long as there are gullible dummies then there will be Nigerian ontrapanures and the likes engaged in international criminality from their armchairs. Well done all the above for being intelligent and for posting on this site. And, if you got your letter and thought you were rich, shame on you, you should know better. 🙂

Got this scam via email, have seen it previously but as is with every case just for a moment (actually it was half an hour) I was very excited. The amount can blind you. Hi. Just to tell everybody that those letters are sent to Italy, too. Names, addresses, emails, societies and referees change, but it’s all the same. It is true, anyway, that many old people could fall for this scam.

I got one today. it is so fake. But just for fun I rang them up. the telephone rang for about 2 minutes then a very lethargic voice answered. I asked him a few questions and the man, believe it or not, gave me very clear indications of how I should claim the price (more than 900.000 euros) and that they are the agents keeping only 10% which after all is not too much, I tought considering that I didnt even buy the ticket. Anyhow I tried to negotiate to 5% rather 10%…unsuccessfully. They are fake and I can see of how people can fall into the trap because as I said in the claim they put telephone numbers and they are prepared to give informations.

My brother got one of these letters today. post mark Malaga 6/11/08. apparently he has won 815,810 euros! He has never been to Spain in his life! Letter signed Mr San Larry M.D. Claims agent Mr Tony Brown. Send bank details and photocopy of I.D. do these people think we are mad!? Think we will have a bit of fun with them, send a few bogus details and perhaps a copy of my dogs passport! Will keep you posted. P.S. thank goodness we are able to compare notes with each other on a site like this.

We’d come back from holiday in Majorca at the beginning of September, and as my wife kind of remembered filling some kind of questionnaire at the airport on the way out (I know – bad idea !) so initially thought that this had something to do with that. Quick search on Google, and this pops up. Cancel the Ferrari :). This is postmarked from Almeria, and dated 10/11/2008. Tempted to phone up for a laugh (from work – not on my bill)!

What a relief that I found you! I received this letter in the post today and thought this might be true…… for all of 0.5 seconds until I was reminded by a friend that I was in an alcoholic coma on the day I supposedly played this lotto…

Hi All … I live in the Channel Islands and got the letter from Loteria Nacional (I won EUR935,470.00) by post about half an hour ago when I got in from work. Got my christian name and surname spot on along with the correct address. The letter has some very nice logos at the bottom for Loterias y Apuestas del Estado and Ministerio De Hacienda … there is even a bar code with my Ref No. on it!!

The address supplied with mine is Calle De Bravo Murillo 396, 28020, Madrid, Spain Tel 00 34 615 096 187… but was posted from Helsinki.

My claim agent is Dr. Luis Lopez, the Foreign Service manager of Vitalico Seguros S.A. Tel No. 00 34 678 158 002 Fax 00 34 911 881 379 and he charges 5% commission, so ha to all those who were going to be charged 10% !!!

Our police have a financial crimes unit, so I will hand it over to them, though I suspect they are likely to have seen it before.

i just recieved a letter stating award notification from euromillones loteria internacional from calle guzmam el bueno madrid spain saying i won $ 715,810.00 . it wants me to send picture id and adress they have my adress or i wouldnt have gotten the letter. also wants to know if i want bank transfer or cashiers check. this is what i think if you realy won you would recieve a check to begin with or they would come to your front door to deliver it.also the envolope had my adress only no return adress and a stamp put upside down on it. if it was real it would be a company envolope with no stamp it would have postage paid bye the company…….

I just received this same letter in the mail last night. It says I won 1 Million Euro for a draw I never entered. I was to call Don Pablo, the foriegn services manager of Santalucia Seguro S.A on 0034 627 734 928 Fax 0034 911 817 388. I clearly knew it was a scam, especially when they asked for my bank details, passport, proof of residence, etc. And I like the little addition that we should not notify anyone about this. Hilarious. The paper which I am supposed to fill out is so bad and crooked that it’s flagrant that it’s a fake. I am considering contacting a lawyer friend of mine in Spain and send him to claim the money / sue them so that they pay.

BTW, the person who got a response to be picked up by someone at the airport. DO NOT ever fall for that. They had a similar scam in France and then held the person prisonner until he/she went to the bank to get money and pay them off.
If you finally decide to go, do it at your time, go to your hotel, give them a date there and definetly try to be with 1-2 other friends who can fight to get you out of a tight spot or at least contact the police prior to leaving so that they know when and where to contact and find you in need

I have the copy of his letter it seems, all the references are the same, by regular mail, stamped in Almeria Jan16th, number 0474003, on a real stamp.

They at least have to invest some money as bait – it’s indeed well done. They MUST be getting cash from some suckers, otherwise they wouldn’t invest in stamps. So beware, beware, beware!! that it’s not YOU who is paying for it!

Note the Hook: ”Government Tax can not be deducted from the winning amount because of the insurance bond policy” presumably this covers the smarties who suggest deducting the fees / government taxes (which you have to send to the ”agent”) from the prizemoney.
Best thing you can do to make a profit out of this one is to collect the attractive Spainish stamp & ”ALMERIA” postmark & give it to your grandchild. Maybe in 50 years or so it will be worth a fortune!

I have recieved one of these lottery notifications this morning with prize winnings of 935,470 euros. Thought it too good to be true but also very strange as I have no connections what so ever with Spain (live in England). Not happy they have my address so it’s going in the re-cycling bin!!

oh and mine was stamped in Correos on 28th Jan. It has authentic Spanish stamps on but I would imagine that a the national lottery of Spain would have a franking machine!!??

I just received a letter today, in the north eastern United States. all the same information on the letter…the thing that struck me the most (after receiving an international letter with no return address!) is that the date today is February 10, 2009 and the letter is dated 04/02/2009…what?!

yesterday, i received a mail from loteria nacional also stating that my email won in a lottery..upon reading its content, i knew it was a scam..how on earth could i win that i didnt join any promo or got engaged in such lottery..the only thing i cant really figure out is the idea that there r sick people who can afford to fool their fellowmen..scams should be stopped, but if not, better b smart enough not to fall in their lures…

Hi, my bf got a letter from International Lottery Board S.I. – Loteria Primitiva Gratis – Madrid, Spain, stating that he has been approved for a lump sum of 815,510 euros from International Lottery Board Summer Promotions held on 22nd Dec 2008. (signed by Vice President-John M. Gomez) It says that 520,000 names were drawn through a computer ballot system and that the funds are deposited with a finance company insured in his name. He is req’d to fill out a claim processing form for Vinsas Security Company S.A…

This is the first time he has gotten this by letter so we decided to look into it. I must admit it looks convincing…

Do you know this is just gonna go…and go…and go !! It’s self perpetuating, and I can’t believe that people actually fall for this scam !! My husband has just received the ”Loteria Nacional” letter……it was postmarked Helsinki !! Must cost them a fortune for the printing and posting – but they obviously make enough funds to keep it going !! Strangely enough, the winning numbers are the same as quoted on several previous letters….and so are the winnings – 935,470 euros – strange hey !! Nah…don’t think we’ll bother with this one – but I have taken the letter to the police to see if they’re interested. got another seemingly scam lottery mail. Apparently somebody in Spain has loads of ”money” and no reason to give it all away.
So I ‘ve just won euros 910,000 in some random lottery coz of my mail id.

Just one question this is an official id which is owned by my company. So who gets the ”money’ – me or my boss 🙂

My father recieved the same letter. I couldn’t belive from start.

I have just received a letter dd. 22.06.09 about a lottery win of 915.810,-€ from Loteria Internacional S.A. in Avd. Juan Real 25 C.P. at 28002 Madrid, Spain.
It is signed by Vicepresident Raul J. Gonzales and there is named as contat agent Pinto Garcia where I was asked to fax a request to to get a certified cheque on the win. – The letter was sent with a stamp from Portugal.
The German text in the letter is quite good – but the paper written on is an absolute desaster.
As I cannot remember to ever have participated in any spanish lottery I have look at the internet and found a lot of ”collegues” here who have reciede similar notices on lottery wins.
I think a better leave the money at the lottery to do a healthy work.

Not even on original headed paper, asking ME to give THEM MY BANK DETAILS – I don’t think so, to claim my so called winnings. Naahhhh I won’t bother thanks. As for the poor english & grammar. My 86 year old father-in-law received a letter dated 27 August telling him he had won 935,470 euros I saw the letter and took it off him as it was such an obvious scam, he suffers from dementia and will not remember! I have no idea where they got his name or address from.

I received a similar letter from the desk of managing director international promotion/award dept. It says ” We are leased to inform you on the release of BONOLOTO SWEEP-STAKE LOTTERY/INTERNATIONAL AWARD PROGRAMME”LOTERIA NAVIDAD” held in Madrid Spain on 22nd of DEC.2008. Due to mix up of names..blah…blah…and there goes winning number.. you have been approved for a lump sum payout of 500.000 euros. The thing is that it looks kinda real, but interesting thing is that they don’t need bank info. You can opt to receive certified cheque(i know it is bad spelling). I kind of believed for a minute, but now I know it is another scam. The question is how the hell they got my US adress ?

I received one as well unfortunately for them I have had this stuff before and can easily recognise a scam think its time considered sending false things back to them like a cheque with the name Mr.I.Noidea, and for every time they respond pass on their letters to trading standards and gaming autorities if you do not have a trading standards in your country.
On no account pass any banking details if you do get in touch with your bank to inform them of the letter and they in turn will pass your old card details on to fraud department who will monitor any activity on your card.

I’ve also received a postal letter yesterday, not e-mail, with kind of similar text in it as represented above. I’m in Bosnia. Difference is in amount – I didn’t ”won” millions, but ”just” 615.810 EUR, also based on some f…ng air ticket, as this lady mentioned before :))). Similar things I’ve received several times by e-mail, but never as a letter! 🙂

I must say that I’m really surprised that somebody has so much free time and willingness to send all this stupidities around the world… it’s rather demanding ”job” because they have to find all our names somewhere on some white or yellow pages, then to make and print all these forms and letters, which is not free if we consider paper, printer ink and necessary time, and finally they have to go to post office to send it :))).

Amazing…really :))). I would like to meet this person(s) personally, just to see him/her and to try to analyze that mental constitution 🙂

For this guy who asked ”what he exposed himself to”, the answer is simple – if you provide them with you credit or debit card number, especially if you provide them with CCV No. from that card, then run to your bank or call them immediately and request blocking of that card. Maybe it’s too late already, depends of when you sent those data. And…good luck 😉

I just got a letter – in English, Italian, and French (written atrociously!) – offering me € 615,810 (the same amount as the in the last comment by Natalie!) for a mere 10% of the winnings. Crazy people! I haven't been to Spain in years!
After reading some of the posts – something occurred to me! While I didn't go to Majorca, my sister came to visit me from there (perhaps leaving my address with the hotel as her next destination!). Can't trust anyone any more!

Well boys and girls, they've crossed the pond now. I'm in Canada, and have won not just wonce, but three different times….I must be really lucky! I've reported it to a local fraud watcher whose job it is to shut down things like this, but he said they're everywhere, so one gets stopped, and three more pop up in his place. Glad to see there is still intelligent life out there tho, or more of us would be falling for this nonsense. Cheers all : )

I have been getting these sweepstakes in the U.S. but they would ask for you to send money to be in the jackpot. I must say when I recived the letter from loteria nacinal spanish sweepstakesI thought my prayers have been answered. It seemed so real because the letter initially doesn’t ask for any money. I never got to contact them but I had my suspesions. Then I decided to do a google search and I found this article. Thanks to all the feedback because this helped me to realize that I almost was scamed. What a nasty thing to doe to people.

But unfortunately it is a scam email.
