It’s actually been quite a while since I last received a true Nigerian 419 scam mail. And this is almost too good to be true. Allcaps, a 30% share of over 30 million US dollars… the only anomaly is the Belgian e-mail address, but who am I to be picky about such small details after […]
419ers - Scammers
419 is another way of saying that something is a scam. A 419er is a scammer. 419 is the article of the Nigerian Criminal Code regarding "Obtaining Property by false pretences; Cheating". That's where the term 419 comes from.
Graham Usman thinks me a fool
Someone calling himself Graham Usman thinks I’m a fool. If anyone else wants to be fooled by his offer please feel free:
Fidelis Izuka – Impersonating a Barrister
iScammers just like any other kind ov scam artists like to bait their plot with something just about legal. If you bite, their notion is that you will be less inclined to report the scammer to the authorities. In the scam mail below, the bait is 18 million dollars, and the hook is that the […]
Robert Bada – 419 scamming from Liberia
Liberian 419 scammer Robert Bada is new to me. He poses as the EX personal assistant of Charles Taylor, and promises me 20% of his take of 25 million US$. Not bad… Strangely enough, Robert Bada worries about infinging my privacy. Well, Robert: It’s not as much you writing to me that makes me publish […]
'Richard Dewar' with a shady business proposition
I’m not exactly sure about the reson for the recent exposion of new kinds of iscams in my inbasket. Either there is a new croud of iscammers, or I have been sloppy when updating my Mail.app Junk filter. Richard Dewar is a new name to me, and his mail is one of the classic ”I […]
Aroujo Tao Savimbi – yet one of Jonas Samimbi heirs
If Jonas Savimbi’s all sons are going to send me the same kind of Nigerian 419 mails, I will soon have a genealogy of quite a large precentage of the Nigerian population… I know the stories about President Savimbi’s promisuity, but how big a family can a person have, and isn’t it kind of strage […]
David Johnson – an Irish 419er
While we where all busy taking down fake offshore banks, a new 419 iScammer turned up. From Dublin, Ireland! It’s a first for everything, and this is certainly the first time I ever saw a 419 mail from Dublin. In all caps as it should, and with the good old old-lady-without-heirs-has-died setup… —— From: ”DAVID […]
The anti-scam flash mob is over
The 5th International 419 Flash Mob is over. The site now leaves a message about how we together succeeded, in a 48 hours party, to shut down at least 17 fake bank websites! We have made our voices heard! And, I am kind of looking forward to The World’s 6th 419 Flash Mob on June […]
Nigerian Astronaut Wants To Come Home
This must be the most innovative 419 mail ever sent out! I didn’t get it myself, but actually picked it up via the Museum of Hoaxes, and The Register. It’s by far the best 419 story I’ve ever come across (and I do hope it’s not invented by the guys at The Register…)
419 mail from Zimbabwe
The 419 mails, or Nigeria mails, is becoming Nigerias major export success, and are rapidly spreading geographically to other parts of Africa. This one, from the country of my childhood, Zimbabwe, reached me today. Mr Aaron Kosoko is the official sender, and he is not a friend of mine…
