If there was a ten-million Euro lottery, and you run it. Wouldn’t you see to it that all that played left there full name, phone number, nationality and country of recidence? I would! After all, that would be the only gain from running such a lottery. And even if you had 10,000,000 contestants, I’m not sure they would be worth the prize sum.
The latest lottery scam arrived in my inbox today. If you received it too, just read it laugh about it and throw it away. You haven’t won, it’s all just a scam.

Please excuse me for editing out your email address, but I don’t want to expose you the scammers sending out this type of stings.
There are of course lots of bona fide lotteries, just not any that you win without buying a ticket. Lotteries are always run as business, and extremely rarely as charities or marketing activities. They need to get in more money than they pay out.
There is a Dayzers Lottery, but you’ll need to buy a ticket to win.

i did receive an email message, dated April 29, 2007, that tells me that i have won..i am residing here in Manila. I immediately asked them if they are legitimate. They responded to my email and gave me the AGLOST STANDARD TRUST BANK..i have a strong feeling that this isn’t for real.

MY QUESTION?
IS THIS A SCAM MAIL?

I received this email and actually took it a few steps. I filled out the info with address and name…maybe shouldn’t have even done that, but wanted to see when they asked for money. Sure enough, lawyer fees and affidavit forms came on about the 4th message. I sent an email back leaving my number for him to call. To my surprise he did and tried to legitimize everything, but after reading more about this from everyone else, and what makes a scam a scam…this is definately a scam.
I actually printed out all email messages and am going to send them to my states attorney and see if they can’t take some legal/police action against these people. Just a thought.

Well, this is sad because I got the same thing and I actually thought that it was true. I got a message from Dolly Ric Last May 22nd, 2007, same letter but of course different ref. number DZ/BC7765468/WW14 and different coupon number NM/896161/WOP . I sent Mr. James Keller a reply asking him how to claim the prize and he replied to me even giving me the payment options. So if this is just false hope, this is unfair. These people need to be punished. On the otherhand, I was thinking, how can we get in trouble here because they were not asking for any money or maybe they will charge us later on. Well, I was already dreaming about a mansion hahaha. I even called the number but after two rings an answering machine will follow.

Wow Whatever!
They are really trying to put pressure on you to pay them a large fee.
Don’t. Just drop it, or try bringing the whole business to the police. The only thing you can be sure about is that you won’t receive any money.
As you might guess, I would strongly advice against visiting them. And if you do, do be prepared, bring backup, don’t have too hight expectations, and if you have enough proof against them, try contacting the local police before you go…

You guys were lucky - I only won 550 000!! with exactly the same ref. number and batch number as Anis Aouadi. I could not decide whether this was real because I was worried about the hotmail address of the Oxford Regional Claims Office. I strung them along and it sounded very real. I phoned the number and the guy sounded like an attorney. I had to exercise an option and after choosing option 2 I now have to fill in a claims form with a warning that there may be legal cost incurred. This is where I am stopping the bus to get off.
I really think these guys are a**holes

I called Netherland police tel 0031 343 57 8844 and they just told me not to send any answers, but they said that they are not interesting if this is a criminal situation in the internet. I think Netherland police don’t care about, is not working, as like police in Greece that I live.

Yep just got the same email too, but whats weird is that as I was looking thru other peoples stories I saw my name (David Peterson) as one of the contact personnel?! Im not sure if they use peoples names who they have already sent the email to or if its just a coincidence, cuz it is a fairly common name. ya i got the same e-mail, was suprised, but they must be hacking into microsofts computer, as i had just taking the trial microsoft office 2007, and the e-mail said it was in conjunction with them and microsoft, i also got a call today to ask if i could travel to the netherlands, or did i want their legal team to handle the transfer of funds………i wonder what happens if you arrive at their offices????? what funds can they look for ?????, i am a little annoyed that people can do this to people, not even caring if they have familys to support.

No, I don’t think there’s any hacking involved. That’s way over the heads of these guys.
They count on the fact that most people cannot buy tickets and scrable off to an office in the Netherlands. But they offer you this to show good faith. They then count on the fact that most people would rather spend much less (as it seems) on their commissions, than on tickets and accomodation.
In the end there is no lottery, there is no funds, all there is is a few Nigerians scammers sending out e-mails like machineguns.
I, myself, is more than a little annoyed with scammers like this. I’m outraged!

I recieved the same email. Not like I was totally surprised. Just think 1,500,000.00 Euro in Canadian currency totals $2, 081,370.57. As if, like that is going to be my day. However, I am a business consultant working for my First Nation community constitution development. My cousin has a friend from the Netherlands, he is a furenzic Auditor. I am going to see what he can do about this. He will have legal advisors in the Netherlands. Maybe with permission he can pick up my winnings and next time he comes to visit our community to his girlfriend across the road from my house, he can provide me a cheque from the Netherland Gaming Commission.
